Weekly worship takes a team, working together to create a meaningful and Spirit-filled worship service. Persons of all ages are invited to join the worship team and volunteer. The opportunities are listed below.
Lead the processional and recessional during the worship service and light the altar candles. If you are a youth age 10 or older you may contact the Head Usher to volunteer.
Sets up and takes down the altar before and after the church service on Sunday mornings. If you would like to help, please contact our Altar Chairwoman.
Assists the pastor in serving communion during the services where communion is served. If you would like to be a part of this team, please contact the Communion coordinator.
Provides the flowers for our services on Sunday morning. Often these are used to commemorate a special occasion or honor someone special. If you would like to do this, there is a signup sheet in the back of the church on Sundays. Debbie Davies owns a florist shop, TGIFlowers in Henderson, and will provide flowers for the altar at a reasonable price. You may also provide your own flowers.
Provides refreshment and light snacks “follow”-ing the service during our fellow-“ship” time. To help, you can sign up on the sheet in the back of the church on Sundays.
Assists the Pastor with the call to worship, Scripture and other reading during the Sunday morning service. If you would like to help with this, please contact the Liturgist Chairman.
The group of able-bodied men, women and youth come early on Sunday mornings to get the Elaine K. Smith building ready for our 10 a.m. service. Set up begins at 10:00 a.m. Assistance is needed following worship. If you can help with this important task, please contact the Setup Crew Chair.
Our ushers assist worshipers during worship to help ensure that the worship experience is comfortable and pleasant. They hand out the worship programs, keep record of attendance, and assist with the offering. Ushers are also available should any other needs arise during our worship service.
When you come to worship you will first be met by one of our greeters. The greeter is the first and most important person on our welcoming team. If you enjoy meeting new people and have a welcoming heart you may wish to volunteer for this team.
