“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:6
One day several years ago, I complained to a friend about a certain lack of (perceived) provision. She responded by asking me if I cared enough about the problem to pray about it. Because the issue was not specifically ‘spiritual,’ I had not even thought about praying.
At that point in my life, prayers were reserved for either specifically spiritual matters, or for things too great for me to solve myself. Tough times and long living have taught me the foolishness of such erroneous thinking. The inclusive wording of our text reminds us all of God’s desire for us to bring “anything…everything” to Him in prayer
God chose, from the time of the Creation, to work on the earth through humans, not independent of them. Though God is sovereign and all-powerful, Scripture clearly tells us that He limited Himself, concerning the affairs of earth, to working through human beings. Dutch Sheets Intercessory Prayer
