Children and Youth Classes
Our children and youth join in worship for the beginning hymns and learn to appreciate worship with the larger community. They are excused before the sermon for a lesson under the guidance of Jane Sharp and Pam Triolo. Our children are learning and growing in Christ and are active participants in our church community. For more information please contact Jane Sharp.
Sierra Service Project – Senior High Mission Project
Each summer our youth participate in the Sierra Service Project. Through acts of service repairing homes in rural and urban communities and service in Central America, SSP invites youth and young adults into a closer relationship with God and to experience the transformative power of serving people who have a culture and life experience different from their own. Junior High Mission Project
Each summer our Junior High youth participate in a local mission project. We join together with Methodist youth from Southern Nevada and participate in daily projects including volunteering at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Car Wash for local charity, Trail Clean up with the Outside Las Vegas Foundation, and the Animal Foundation.
In addition to working hard, the youth enjoy swimming, bowling and a fun movie night. Teaching our youth to give to others is a vital part of growing in our faith as Christians. For more information please contact Rev. Sandy Johnson.
Potosi Pines Camp is our United Methodist Camp that is located off Route 160 toward Pahrump. Each summer the camp offers elementary, junior high and senior high camps, as well as family camp. There is also winter camp for junior and senior high. Scholarships are available. For more information visit Potosi Pines website.
Helping in Worship
Our youth participate in worship as acolytes, liturgists and once a year they lead the Sunday worship service. Teaching our children and youth to participate fully in the life of the church is vital to their faith development. We encourage children to fulfill the calling God has placed upon their lives.
Part of our youth program is spiritual formation. When students reach the age of 13 or older they are eligible to complete our confirmation program. Confirmation is a year-long curriculum in which our youth learn about their faith and claim their faith as their own.
In the United Methodist Tradition we baptize people of all ages; infants, youth and adults. Baptism is the outward sign of the inward grace we receive from Jesus Christ. If you are interested in baptism, please contact Rev. Sandy Johnson.
