Miriam’s Thoughts – April 19, 2020

May 4, 2020 by Jeff Romine

“Come to me, all you who are wary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

“As long as Jesus is one of many options, He is no option.  As long as you can carry you burdens alone, you don’t need a burden bearer.  As long as your situation brings you no grief, you will receive no comfort.  And as long as you can take Him or leave Him, you might as well leave Him, because He won’t be taken half-heartedly.”  Max Lucado Grace for the Moment

The human pattern is to take it until we “can’t take it anymore.”  Or to lug the load until we cry out, “This is too much to bear!”  Or to lean on our own resources until the depletion is acute and panic sets in.  Our text does not tell us to wait until the situation is desperate.  The minute we sense weariness, we are invited to tap into His limitless strength.  When we see even the outline of a burden about to be place on our back—we are not to run from the burden, but into His sufficiency.  This is not a matter of avoidance.  It is a matter of spiritual wisdom.  Today…go immediately.
